JUST over 2,000 lucky Wanderers fans have managed to secure a sought-after ticket at Oakwell – and Ian Evatt hopes his side can make it a night to remember.

Allocations across all four play-off games were controversially reduced, prompting a scramble for seats when they went on sale late last week.

The vast majority of Wanderers fans will be watching on TV at home, in pubs and clubs around town, or in a special Fanzone at the stadium.

Whilst frustrated that his team did not nudge ahead in the tie last weekend, Evatt is comforted by the fact Bolton have won three and drawn three of their last six away games and have generally been solid on the road this season.

“I’d said before the game that we couldn’t really win or lose on Saturday,” he said. “A draw wasn’t an ideal result for us but it isn’t a disaster. We have to win one game of football.

“You can look at it different ways and I am sure that Michael (Duff) will feel they are in the stronger position being at home and having their crowd supporting them, their own home comforts, but for us – especially of late – our away record has been very good. We have been dangerous away from home.

“I think the game is well-matched and well set-up for a good encounter.”

Barnsley earned plenty of plaudits for the way they neutralised Wanderers last weekend as the away team – and still managed to pose an attacking threat, making James Trafford work hard on his final appearance at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Evatt said after the game that his players had “60-70 per cent” more to give, and having reviewed the action several times this week he remains confident that the Whites can produce a much better performance at Oakwell.

“My opinion of that first game hasn’t really changed,” he said. “We were nervous first half, even though we’d started the better in the first 15 minutes but we allowed them to restrict us.

“Football is all subjective, isn’t it? Everyone comes away saying that Barnsley performed really well but we didn’t. They had 19 shots but 10 of them were from outside the box and if you are having set plays and long throws the likelihood is that you are going to have more shots.

“I felt we had control of the ball. Did we create enough with it? No.

“But there was huge pressure on us in that game and I think there will be a different feel about Friday, which will help. I honestly think it is a very even game.”
