WANDERERS are one of several League One clubs to have enquired about Peterborough United midfielder Ollie Norburn.

The Peterborough Telegraph claim that Wigan Athletic and Blackpool have all made calls about the transfer-listed 30-year-old.

Bolton-born Norburn has been keen to return with his family to the North West and has 12 months left on his deal at London Road, so would command a fee.

He joined Posh for £350,000 from Shrewsbury Town in 2021 but had his time at the club hampered by a knee ligament injury which kept him out of action for 11 months.

Norburn finished last season strongly but was placed alongside several other senior players on the transfer list by manager Darren Ferguson, who wants to build his team around younger talent next season.

Last season’s top scorer in League One, Jonson Clarke-Harris, is another player in the ‘unwanted’ pile at Peterborough and Fry expects interest in the listed players to increase in the coming weeks.

"There has been plenty of interest in Ollie,” Fry confirmed. “He's been informed, but so far there have been no bids which is also the case with several other transfer listed players.

"As you’d expect clubs are calling about Jonno. Any League One club serious about winning promotion should want Jonno as he’d guarantee 25-35 goals a season with the right service.

"I expect Jack Taylor to end up in the Championship and there are clubs after him, including Ipswich who bid three times for him in January.

"It’s been very quiet overall though. Clubs don’t want to pay players’ wages in the summer if they can help it.

"I usually do a couple of deals at the EFL Conference, but there wasn’t anything going on there either.”

Wanderers are keen to boost their options in central midfield, and want more goals from that area of the squad.

Norburn has not scored in his 38 appearances for Peterborough but showed in three seasons at Shrewsbury beforehand that he is capable, scoring 18 times over 118 games in all competitions for the Shropshire men.
