WANDERERS kick off their pre-season friendly schedule on Saturday at Bamber Bridge – the first step in a campaign they hope will end in automatic promotion.

Ian Evatt’s side are scheduled to be wearing their new home kit against Northern Premier League Brig, who have already played Preston North End and Curzon Ashton in friendlies over the past week.

But what else do you need to know if you are attending the game? Here’s our handy guide.

WHAT TIME AND WHERE?

The game will kick off at 3pm on Saturday, July 8 at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, which has a capacity of around 3,000 and seating for about 550.

The ground is about a three-minute drive from junction 1 of the M65. The postcode is PR5 6UX. There are limited spaces in the club car park but street parking is available around the ground.

Bamber Bridge train station is a 15-minute walk.

HOW DO YOU GET TICKETS?

It is pay on the gate at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium with admission £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for under-11s. The club do ask that supporters arrive in plenty of time, so that the queues on the turnstiles can be reduced.

WHAT WILL THE TEAM BE LIKE?

Ian Evatt will take his full first team squad and – as is usually the case in the first pre-season game – a different XI will be used in each half.

A small number of B Team players did accompany the first team to their training camp in Portugal and it is possible they will be used again to boost numbers.

It is unclear whether Eoin Toal will play a part, having damaged his ankle on international duty with Northern Ireland in the summer.

But Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Jack Iredale are fit to play their first football since January, having recovered from ankle and knee injuries respectively.

WHAT’S THE OPPOSITION?

Northern Premier League Brig finished third last season and are managed by ex-Everton and Fleetwood Town midfielder Jamie Milligan.

They have a couple of ex-league players in their ranks, including Fleetwood legend Nathan Pond and Sky Sinclair, the son of ex-England, Manchester City and West Ham United star Trevor Sinclair.

Their pre-season started with a heavy 7-0 defeat to Championship Preston, followed by a narrow 1-0 defeat against National League North Curzon Ashton, who provide Wanderers’ next pre-season opposition.
