Ethan Hamilton has completed a move to Lincoln City ahead of their League One opener against Wanderers this weekend.

Hamilton made 12 appearances for the Whites while on loan from Manchester United during the 2019/20 campaign.

The midfielder, who also had stints at Rochdale and Southend, headed to Accrington in the summer of 2021.

He played 43 times in all competitions last season as the Reds were relegated to League Two, scoring in the 1-0 victory against Wanderers in April.

Hamilton has put pen to paper over a three-year deal at Lincoln and arrives for an undisclosed fee.

He will now play alongside ex-Wanderers loanee Lukas Jensen, who has also joined the Imps this summer.

“I’m over the moon, from the first interest it’s something I’ve been really keen on,” he told the club website.

“From walking around the club It’s clear to see that everyone here is hungry and wants to work hard, you can see that culture, and I think I’ll fit into that.

“I’ve spoken with Lukas Jensen who I played with at Accrington and he was so complimentary about the club, which was important as well.”

Head coach Mark Kennedy believes the midfielder has the potential to play at a higher level down the line.

“Ethan is a very good signing for us, who can cover a number of positions within our squad,” he added.

“He fits our recruitment profile and, at 24 years old, has the potential to develop and play higher.  He is a technical player, with good athleticism and is someone who will add goals to the team.”

Lincoln make the trip to the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as the new season gets under way.

The Imps achieved a top-half finish last term following a 1-0 victory against Shrewsbury on the final day.
