WANDERERS (3-5-2)

NATHAN BAXTER…8.

Handling was impeccable and he made some important interventions to keep Fleetwood at bay even before the red cards in the second half.

GETHIN JONES…7.

Just about held things together at the back as the visitors refused to lie down. Did a decent job stifling the threat of Danny Mayor when he entered the fray.

RICARDO SANTOS…7.5.

Really strong in the air and put a fine diagonal ball in for Dacres-Cogley for the second goal. Oozing confidence at the moment.

JACK IREDALE…7.5.

In good form on his return to the first team and contributed to a stubborn defensive effort once the numbers were turned against the Whites.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…8.

Consistently found space early on and bagged two assists with high-quality crosses. Looking a very good find indeed.

PARIS MAGHOMA…6.5.

Produced some lovely moments in the early exchanges but his effectiveness faded a little as the game wore on.

KYLE DEMPSEY…7.

Took a heavy knock at one stage, which will hopefully not affect him for the weekend. Once again looked a driving force in the middle.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.5.

The man of the hour. Showed some classy touches in the first 45 minutes but it was considered a risk to keep him on the pitch with a booking.

RANDELL WILLIAMS…6.5.

Covered well in defence, where his pace came in handy under pressure. It has been an encouraging start for the wing-back who is looking right at home.

VICTOR ADEBOYEJO…9.

Right man in the right place on three occasions – and a debateable offside flag cost his a fourth. A lot of historical tweets being deleted right now.

DION CHARLES…6.5.

Great ball for the first goal but should he have been withdrawn alongside Thomason at the break after that first yellow card? All said with hindsight.

Subs: Sheehan 6, 46 (for Thomason) – Not quite with the pace of the game.

Morley 6.5, 59 (for Dempsey) – One great ball for Adeboyejo.

Gomes 6, 70 (for Maghoma) – Eager to impress.

Ashworth 6. 70 (for Williams) – A farcical booking.

Nlundulu 6, 70 (for Adeboyejo) – His ball carrying was important.

Not used: Forrester, Jerome.

Fleetwood: Lynch; Hayes, Nsiala, Earl; Johnston, Rooney, Robertson, Vela, Broom; Omochere, Marriott.

Subs: Graydon 46 (for ), Danny Mayor 46 (for Hayes), Patterson 74 (for Robertson), Quiltma 80 (for Omochere), Asamoah 81 (for Broom).

Not used: McMullan, Teale.

Tactics: 6.5/10 - Once again, width was Wanderers' friend. All the traffic came down the right side and the decision to add Maghoma to the mix worked superbly for the opening 35 minutes. Evatt might feel his defence was a little exposed at times, though.

Referee: Tom Nield – 3/10: After last season’s mishap, this haphazard display really was not a good look. Yellow cards issued in scattergun fashion, then poor challenges and gamesmanship completely overlooked. With respect, a very, very poor display.
