VICTOR Adeboyejo is in line for a first team return against Carlisle United – as Ian Evatt looks for one more push from his battle-weary Wanderers.

Ricardo Santos and Paris Maghoma have now re-joined light training duties at Lostock with a view to returning against Northampton Town after the international break.

Victory against Stevenage has put Bolton four points behind second-placed Oxford United and with five-goal striker Adeboyejo now pushing for a recall after recovering from a knee problem, Evatt hopes his side can claw back more ground at the weekend.

“We asked every player to give it their all and step up,” he said. “We have had a rough time with injuries and suspensions but the light is at the end of the tunnel, we can see the lads coming back, they are back on the grass and doing well. We just needed to find a way to win these games, and the last two we have managed, now we have one more big effort on Saturday.

“I think we will have Victor back for the weekend, but I don’t think any of the others will be ready. I think we are looking at Northampton for them, probably barring Carlos Mendes Gomes, who is a week behind and his injury was slightly more serious than the others.

“But what we need is that one last burst before the break when we can get some bodies back, take stock of where we are, and get ready to give it a really good go again.”

Evatt has called for maximum backing from the Wanderers fans on Tuesday night, wary of the fact his players could be showing signs of fatigue.

He was delighted with the response and has repeated the call for Carlisle’s visit on Saturday, where they will look to put four league and cup wins together on the spin for the second time this season.

“Fans aren’t silly, they know when the players are giving them absolutely everything – and the player genuinely are at the moment,” the manager said. “I genuinely don’t think any other squad in this league could cope with the level of injuries we have had. But the fans have rallied and been that 12th man at times, and it is vital for the players, it really is.

“The togetherness throughout the squad, and the fans, it is great, and it needs to continue if we are to have a chance to achieve our ambitions.”

Meanwhile, Wanderers midfielder Josh Sheehan has been called up to the Wales squad, alongside former Bolton loanee Owen Beck, who is currently at Dundee.

Rob Page’s side host Gibraltar in a friendly at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground on Wednesday, October 11 before heading to Cardiff to take on Croatia in a vital Euro 2024 qualifier on Sunday, October 15.
