Daisy Hill face a double header of home games tomorrow and Monday, with Bacup Borough the visitors to the Plumb Factory Stadium on both occasions.

The East Lancashire outfit will visit tomorrow for a league fixture in the North West Counties League First Division North, and make the journey again on Monday night for a tie in the first round of the Edward Case Cup.

Despite the pressure of two games in just over 48 hours, Daisy skipper Jake O’Brien believes two home games in quick succession could turn out to be a benefit.

“I think we do have a slight advantage with the games being back-to-back on Saturday and Monday,” said O’Brien.

“The reason is that we are one of the few teams who consistently play midweek games on a Monday, so that might work in our favour.

“When we play Saturday/Monday, if you don’t look after yourself on the Sunday that’s when you will find that you can have a problem on the Monday.

“But the good thing is we do have the quality in the squad to chop and change it a bit if we need to, and we won’t be weakened in any position if we do that and field a changed team on Monday.

“Our main focus is on the league, but the cup game is important too, as we would love to win a cup.”

The league fixture tomorrow has the usual 3pm kick off, while the cup tie on Monday evening kicks off at 7.45pm, and will be decided on penalties if the teams are level after 90 minutes.
