Josh Sheehan has been called up for Wales’ upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Armenia and Turkey.

Sheehan has earned a couple of caps this season, most recently in the 4-0 friendly win against Gibraltar when he came off the bench for the second half.

The creative midfielder has had a strong start to the campaign, featuring in all 15 of Wanderers’ League One matches so far.

Rob Page’s side are in the race to secure a spot at next summer’s tournament, which takes place in Germany.

Wales are joint-second with Croatia, who they beat 2-1 last month thanks to a double from Fulham winger Harry Wilson. Turkey are six points clear at the top of the table, although they have played an extra game at this stage.

Page’s side head to Armenia on Saturday, November 18 (2pm) before hosting Turkey in their final group fixture on Tuesday, November 21 (7.45pm).

Last month, Sheehan said: "There is a lot to play for, (qualifying) would be a massive thing. Everyone hasn’t written Wales off, but they say we are in a rebuilding process because we are missing probably one of the best players in Gareth Bale.

“It would be a massive thing to show it’s not just a one-man or a two-man team with the big boys. It’s a very good squad with some young players and the experienced ones can help them come through.”

Meanwhile, Dion Charles and Eoin Toal have both been called up to the latest Northern Ireland squad.

Michael O'Neill's side head to Finland on Friday, November 17 before hosting Denmark in their final group fixture on Monday, November 20.

Northern Ireland sit fifth in Group H, with their only wins coming against bottom-ranked San Marino. They are 13 points off the top two, which means qualification is no longer possible.

O'Neill told BBC Sport: "I think what we've lacked at times in this campaign is a little bit of game knowledge and game knowhow.

"The biggest challenge we've faced in the campaign is we've gone behind in six games and have found it difficult to get a way back into the game.

"It would be nice for us to have the opposite scenario, to get ahead and have something to defend and show that side of our game."
