WANDERERS 3-5-2.

JOEL COLEMAN…7.

What little got through was dealt with comfortably and he looked most willing to join in at the back and try to work the ball out to the right areas.

GETHIN JONES…7.5.

Once again, he brought the best out of the wing-back on his side. The combination work with Matheson was a joy to watch in the first half in particular.

RICARDO SANTOS…7.

Didn’t really need to get out of second gear for most of the game and picked his battles well against the awkward Madden.

JACK IREDALE…7.

Didn’t waste possession and rarely let anything in behind him. A solid return to the first team for the reliable Australian.

LUKE MATHESON…7.5.

His first start but looks like he has played in this team for ages. Wanderers have to manage him – but this is a talent worth watching.

AARON MORLEY…7.5.

Should have ended up with a hat-trick and goodness knows how that effort did not bounce off the post and in but great to see the sparkle return to his eye.

PARIS MAGHOMA…7.

Provided a cutting edge once again, putting Bodvarsson through for his first. Should have added another one in the second half but you can’t have everything.

GEORGE THOMASON…8.

Beautiful ball for Bodvarsson’s second, denied by a brilliant save from Smith too. Looking much more confident around the penalty box these days.

RANDELL WILLIAMS…6.

Brought off after what Ian Evatt called a “communication error” – a shame, because even thought Dacres-Cogley did just fine, Williams is in great form.

DAN NLUNDULU…8.

His best performance in a Bolton shirt? Would have stood out a mile if one or two of those second-half chances he created had been finished. Unselfish but quite unplayable on the night.

JON DADI BODVARSSON…8.5.

Subbed not long after half time but you can’t really deny him the headlines after two goals can you? So calm, so precise with his finishing.

Subs: Dacres-Cogley 7, 17 (for Williams) – Continually got into dangerous positions.

Jerome 6.5, 55 (for Bodvarsson) – Should have opened his account but still looked lively.

Adeboyejo 86 (for Nlundulu), Sharples 86 (for Maghoma).

Not used: Baxter, Halford, Lewis.

Stockport County: Smith; Knoyle, Byrne, Pond, Touray; Johnson, Camps, Mee, Richardson; Madden, Powell.

Subs: Pye 46 (for Touray), Wright 46 (for Johnson) Not used: Hinchcliffe, Horsfall, Croasdale, Wootton, Bailey.

Attendance: 3,421 (1,539)

Referee: Scott Oldham 6/10 – Not sure what his reasoning was for denying Dacres-Cogley a penalty in the second half but otherwise he had a relatively easy shift, his assistants making the biggest calls with a string of offsides.
