WANDERERS (3-5-2).

NATHAN BAXTER…6.

Caught out of position by Santos’s poor touch in the first half but made a few decent saves either side of half time to keep his side just in touch.

GETHIN JONES…5.

Vale and Collins made it very, very difficult for those on the right side of Wanderers’ defence. Credit to Jones for steadying the ship but not an enjoyable day.

RICARDO SANTOS…3.

Looked off the pace even before his mistake, which led to the red card. Won’t need telling that this was a very poor show.

EOIN TOAL…5.

After his bad night at Fratton Park, still looked to be lacking a touch of confidence. Is he really comfortable on the left side of the three? Grabbed a late consolation.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…5.

Got forward into some good positions but the consistency of delivery and final pass just wasn’t there. Needs to get over this plateau.

GEORGE THOMASON…5.

Moved on from a forgettable first half and very nearly got his side back into it. No shortage of effort – but isn’t quite happening for him at the moment.

PARIS MAGHOMA…5.

Had a few moments but once Wanderers were down to 10 men he seemed to tire quite quickly in the second half.

AARON MORLEY…5.

Did okay with the ball at his feet, looking Bolton’s best bet early on to open the visitors up. Too passive at times out of possession, though.

JACK IREDALE…5.5.

Have to give him some props for showing more energy and bite than most. Also put in a couple of great crosses from the left but hardly faultless.

DION CHARLES…5.

Didn’t really have a chance to get himself into the game or get the goal to wipe the Pompey slate clean. Will hopefully take the frustration out on Leyton Orient.

JON DADI BODVARSSON…6.5.

Went close on a couple of occasions and generally kept the ball well after becoming the only option up front.

Subs: Forrester 6, 40 – Solid in the second half. Might be on duty against Fleetwood.

Dempsey 5, 61 – Didn’t quite have the impact we’d hoped for.

Mendes Gomes 72 (for Thomason), Williams 72 (for Iredale), Adeboyejo 72 (for Bodvarsson).

Not used: Ashworth, Jerome.

Bristol Rovers: Cox; Cramma, Taylor, Wilson, Vale; Finley, Ward; Thomas, Evans, Collins; Marquis.

Subs: Woods 78 (for Ward), Hoole 80 (for Marquis), Martin 86 (for Thomas).

Not used: Ward, Grant, Sinclair, Brown.

Referee: Carl Brook 7/10 – Can’t have any complaints on the red card. His assistants had a few questionable calls on offside but the ref was generally OK.

Attendance: 19,534.
