Lincoln boss Michael Skubala felt his side were unlucky to end up on the losing side against Wanderers.

The Imps went down to 10 men in the second half after Danny Mandroiu was sent off for a reckless challenge on Aaron Morley.

Lincoln defended resiliently but were undone at the death when Eoin Toal headed home from Josh Sheehan’s delivery to send the away end into raptures.

“A really tough one to take,” said Skubala after the final whistle. “Roughly 20 minutes with 10 men and the lads were digging deep. An 89th minute goal, it’s tough for the lads.

“I thought we did enough to get something out of the game, especially second half.

“We looked a decent side and were pushing a top team in this league, who have got a good squad. We are a bit depleted at the minute and were pushing them second half.”

The Imps chief was keen to focus on the overall performance rather than Mandroiu’s red card but admitted it was a key moment in the contest.

“It is a game changing moment, there is no doubt about that,” he continued. “Whether it has cost us I don’t know but it is a game changing moment, for sure.

“I don’t really want to talk about Danny. I want to talk about the warriors out there who, for (the final) 20 minutes, looked like they were going to get something out of the game.

“I thought they were brilliant to a man and it was so unlucky to not come away with something.

“Even at the end when we nearly scored through Lasse (Sorensen), it was a proud performance from the 10 men out there.”

The result leaves Wanderers third in the League One table ahead of their trip to Fleetwood on Friday night, while Lincoln are in ninth place.
