Richie Wellens reckons Leyton Orient are “a different team” from their defeat against Wanderers last month.

Wellens’ men were beaten 3-2 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium after going three goals down inside the opening 10 minutes.

Since then, the London club have taken 10 out of a possible 12 points including a 3-0 victory against leaders Portsmouth last weekend. Shaq Forde, Jordan Brown and Dan Agyei were all on target at Fratton Park.

Wellens expects another tough test against the Whites but hopes his side can continue their strong form in the league.

“They are a brilliant football club,” he told Orient’s YouTube channel.

“We had a tough test in the first 10 minutes but I think we are a different team, I think we have grown from that. It is going to be a hard game but it is one that we look forward to.”

Wellens added: “When you go away to Bolton and after nine minutes you are 3-0 down, you want to see a reaction.

“I know what my reaction is going to be. I know what some of our supporters are thinking, they are thinking, ‘This could go to four, five, six’.

“But in my head, I am thinking about how we can get the next goal to change the outlook of the next five or 10 minutes. We did that and got it back to 3-2, and we took massive confidence from that game.

“We have beaten Cheltenham, Charlton and Cambridge. Then coming to (Portsmouth), it is a tough environment but we learnt from the Bolton game. I thought one to 11, everyone contributed and was excellent.”

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture, Orient have signed Brandon Cooper from Swansea on a permanent deal.

The centre-back spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Brisbane Road, making 17 appearances in all competitions.

"Everything about the club made me want to come back," he explained.

"Playing at the stadium in front of the fans who fill out the ground almost every week and the style of play suits me well.

"There are lots of attractive things about the club. I loved my time here, and it was a no-brainer for me to come back."

Cooper has represented Wales at Under-21 level and was called up to the senior squad last year.

"We're really happy to have secured Brandon on a permanent deal," Wellens continued. "Brandon came in and was fantastic for the first few months of the season.

"We think that there is real room for development in him and I think he can go on to become a really good player for the club."
