Cheltenham have announced the signing Josh Harrop ahead of their League One clash with Wanderers.

Harrop joins the Robins following a successful trial period and is eligible to feature against the Whites.

The 28-year-old came through the ranks at Manchester United and had also had spells with Preston, Ipswich and Northampton among others.

He told the club’s official website: "I'm really delighted to be here, it's a great opportunity for me and I'm delighted to finally get the deal done.

"I've been working really hard since I've been a free agent and I've been able to show that to the gaffer and now he's given me that opportunity to come in and play until the end of the season.

"I can play as number eight, a number 10. I like to play through the middle and try to score goals and pop up with assists."

Cheltenham have had a few extra days to prepare for their trip to the Toughsheet Community Stadium after Saturday’s clash with Carlisle was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The Robins were due to host the Cumbrians but the decision to call off the fixture was made on Friday morning following a pitch inspection.

Will Goodwin also departed Whaddon Road several days ago. The young forward was snapped up by Oxford for an undisclosed fee.

"Will leaves the club with our best wishes and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” said manager Darrell Clarke.

"He has progressed well during my time here but the offer we received from Oxford was one we felt was a great deal for the club.

"We continue our focus on improving performances with our squad on the pitch and improving it with a positive transfer window."

Goodwin scored seven goals in 32 appearances for Cheltenham after joining from Stoke City just over a year ago.
