Wanderers will be keen to bounce back quickly as Cheltenham return to the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The initial fixture earlier this month was abandoned after 29 minutes due to a medical emergency in the crowd and it was later confirmed that lifelong supporter Iain Purslow had sadly died.

Ian Evatt’s men suffered a 1-0 defeat at Leyton Orient over the weekend, with Dan Agyei getting the decisive goal early in the second half.

That result left the Whites fourth in the League One table with at least two games in hand over the sides above them.

Team news

Carlos Mendes Gomes is set to return to Wanderers later this week after representing Guinea-Bissau at the African Cup of Nations.

However, Gethin Jones will be away with Australia for longer after the Socceroos booked their place in the knockout rounds.

There had been some illness in the Bolton camp ahead of the trip to Leyton Orient but that has now cleared up.

Will Forrester remains sidelined with a hamstring issue and George Johnston and Dan Nlundulu are both long-term absentees.

As for the visitors, new signing Josh Harrop is eligible for the fixture following a successful trial period at Whaddon Road.

Opposition lowdown

Cheltenham have had a few extra days to prepare for the fixture after Saturday’s clash with Carlisle was called off due to the weather conditions.

The Robins currently sit 22nd in the table – four points from safety but with a couple of games in hand at this stage.

Darrell Clarke’s side haven’t completed a full 90 minuets since Saturday, January 6 when they beat Portsmouth 2-1 thanks to Liam Sercombe’s brace.

Head-to-head

Bolton have only faced Cheltenham eight times, with a record of four wins, two draws and two defeats.

Wanderers ran out 3-0 winners when the sides met at Whaddon Road in August. Dion Charles bagged a brace either side of Liam Smith’s own goal during an emphatic first-half performance.

Evatt’s side also came out on top at the Toughsheet Community Stadium last season, with Kyle Dempsey getting the decisive goal 10 minutes from time.
