Cambridge are offering Wanderers fans a free pint upon arrival at the Abbey Stadium on Tuesday night.

All Bolton supporters aged 18 or over will receive a voucher for a pint of BrewBoard’s Away Day Lager as they come through the turnstiles.

Around 800 fans made the trip down earlier this month but saw just nine minutes of play before the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

BrewBoard co-founder Oli Pugh said: “It’s difficult not to admire the travelling Bolton fans who are coming back to the Abbey on Tuesday night, having already made the 400-mile trip for an abandoned game.

“That’s 800 miles for a game of football, a proper shift for whichever club you support! With that in mind, we think these hardy football-loving souls deserve a free pint for their efforts. Especially as we hope they’re going to have to head back up the M6 with nothing!"

Cambridge enter the game in high spirits following a comfortable 4-0 victory at Carlisle thanks to goals from Sullay Kaikai, Elias Kachunga and Liam Bennett, as well as Sam Lavelle’s unfortunate own goal.

The U’s currently sit 16th in the League One table under Neil Harris, who took charge in December following the departure of long-serving boss Mark Bonner.

Wanderers drew 0-0 at the Abbey Stadium last season. Kyle Dempsey was sent off for a second bookable offence 15 minutes from time.

The points were also shared when the sides met at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in April 2023. Sam Smith scored a late equaliser after Declan John had put Bolton in front.

Ian Evatt’s men are preparing for the first of three successive away matches, with trips to Blackpool and Wigan also coming up before the end of the month.
