WANDERERS (3-5-2).

JOEL COLEMAN…6.

Whether there was more he could do on the goal was debatable – but to that point he had been very solid. One very decent save afterwards, too.

GETHIN JONES…6.

Better, without question, than he had been at Blackpool, and didn’t waste the ball at all. But symptomatic of the team in that it counted for nothing.

RICARDO SANTOS…6.5.

Pretty comfortable up to the point things unravelled. Played some eye-catching longer passes which turned the home side in the first half.

EOIN TOAL…7.

Nearly stole the show with a sensational effort from 30 yards and tried to keep Wanderers moving forward when he got on the ball.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…5.5.

Had one effort at goal but generally lacked penetration and seemed to play a bit narrower than normal. With Ramsay out of favour, needs to step up.

PARIS MAGHOMA…6.

Walking a fine line after his early yellow card. Always willing to take the ball on but other than one blocked effort in the first half didn’t make a dent.

JOSH SHEEHAN…7.

Controlled the game for Wanderers for the most part and one of his set pieces might just have opened things up. Looked to have run his race at the point he was swapped for Jerome.

GEORGE THOMASON…5.

Had been one of the few plus points of Saturday’s game but the midfielder was largely ineffective on this occasion.

NAT OGBETA…6.

Got plenty of crosses into the box but they varied wildly in quality. Got into some good positions and could have scored in the second half.

VICTOR ADEBOYEJO…5.5.

Made some decent runs but struggled to act on the service he was given. Once Mendes Gomes left the pitch his work with Collins was patchy.

CARLOS MENDES GOMES…N/A.

Dreadfully unlucky to pick up an Achillies injury which is likely to end his season. Had shown a few good touches in the early stages.

Subs: Collins 5, 20 (for Mendes Gomes) – Supplied a couple of crosses but didn’t get into the groove.

Dempsey 70 (for Maghoma) – Looked up for the scrap.

Bodvarsson 70 (for Adeboyejo) – Didn’t get a touch or a chance but fired up after the final whistle.

Jerome 78 (for Sheehan).

Not used: Iredale, Forrester, Morley.

MAN OF THE MATCH – Josh Sheehan.

Looked the most likely man to break the deadlock, or at least help someone else do it. Maybe tired towards the end but Bolton are relying on him more than ever now.

MOAN OF THE MATCH – At 1-0 down Wanderers seemed to run out of ideas. Dempsey virtually went alone in the final 10 minutes when it should have been all hands to the pump.

MAGIC MOMENT – The noise made by the 4,000 travelling fans was outstanding. Wanderers cannot complain one iota about the support they are getting in this promotion push.

Wigan Athletic: Tickle; Goode, Kerr, Chambers; J Smith, Adeeko, M Smith, McManaman; S Smith, Magennis, Asgaard.

Subs: Humphrys 53 (for Magennis), Godo 63 (for McManaman), Morrison 75 (for Goode) Pearce 75 (for J Smith).

Not used: Amos, Sze, Kelman.

Referee: John Busby 7/10 – No complaints from a Bolton perspective. Managed a passionate game well enough even though there were a few free kicks ‘bought’ in the first half.

Attendance: 13,204 (4,209)
