Barnsley boss Neill Collins wants to make life “as difficult as possible” for Wanderers at Oakwell.

The Tykes are three points behind the Whites but have a game in hand heading into the business stage of the campaign.

Barnsley enter the game in high spirits following a 4-2 victory against Wycombe at Adams Park over the weekend.

“I am sure the fans are going to be right behind this team,” said Collins. “They have done that all season but I have seen a distinct increase recently.

“(Wycombe) was fantastic in terms of the backing, singing. I think that is because they have got a team they are enjoying.

“On Tuesday night, we will make it as difficult as possible for a really good Bolton side.”

The Yorkshire outfit had to come from behind twice to beat Wycombe, with Sam Cosgrove, Donovan Pines, Corey O’Keeffe and Conor Grant all getting on the scoresheet.

“There were some things that I really liked and some things I didn’t quite enjoy,” Collins continued.

“We gave away two really poor goals but I have got to look more at the positives. It is another huge three points and great resilience from the players.

“We got goals at important times but I thought a couple of our goals were real quality. At times we were sloppy as well, but you still need to win and we managed that.”

Barnsley have now won three successive matches in the league and are unbeaten in their last six as they aim to keep climbing the table.

“I don’t want to be always having to come from behind but I do think it is a huge string to our bow,” Collins reflected.

“Being a team who can score goals is really important with the run-in we are going to have. To get four goals, I think we had been threatening that recently and we could have had a couple more.

“Our defenders have been outstanding, Josh Earl has been excellent, and there were a couple of small mistakes that we got punished for which I am not concerned about going forward.”

The points were shared when the sides met at the Toughsheet Community Stadium last month, with Zac Ashworth cancelling out Devante Cole’s early opener.

The Whites’ last trip to Oakwell was the play-off semi-final second leg, with Liam Kitching getting the decisive goal that night.
