After the Stevenage stalemate, we flocked down to the Toughsheet in our thousands to see the next instalment of our automatic promotion push.

Reading were the visitors - a club currently suffering from detested owners and fans who regularly throw tennis balls away.

The Doombar deliberations were straight and to the point, we had to win and not worry about other results.

A real challenge was in prospect as there was no good news on the injury front and the Royals have had some decent results recently, despite their off-field troubles, and are a team that had scored in their last 15 matches.

Ian Evatt picked Jon Dadi Bodvarsson to lead the line and the magnificent crowd were behind the Wanderers from the kick off, on all four sides of the stadium.

The atmosphere was electric, and the Wanderers responded in the right way.

We need heroes to get us over that line and Aaron Collins stepped up with a brilliant hat-trick, the opener being a real cracker.

Bodvarsson joined in with two of his own as the biscuitmen crumbled before our eyes.

Every player rose to the occasion. Every player stood up and was counted. A few fans were grumbling that we conceded a couple of goals, but that is Bolton fans for you.

It is not the time to nitpick performances, it is the time to applaud the result - job sorted; match won. Three points in the bag and goal difference improved by three goals.

But just as we have had to park recent poor results and move on, we have got to do that with this great result.

Five more league matches to go, and all eyes and thoughts must move on to the Memorial Stadium and Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

We must concentrate on winning our own matches and then other results will take care of themselves.

We are still in with a real chance of automatic promotion, although at the moment, Portsmouth and Derby have the advantage but that can change if we manage to do our stuff.

And Peterborough and Barnsley are still in it, waiting to pounce if others slip up.

We have done well, despite our horrendous injury list this season and hopefully the cavalry will return next week in the form of a fit again Dion Charles and Nathan Baxter.

Five more performances and results like today and ‘we’ll be aw reet.’
