Aaron Collins is looking forward to returning to Bristol Rovers this weekend – but insists his sole focus is securing another important three points in the promotion race.

Collins became a fan favourite during a successful spell at the Memorial Stadium before he was snapped up by Wanderers in January.

“Obviously, I was there for two-and-a-half-years and it will be nice to go back there, but the main thing is to go and win.

“We want to build on the (Reading) performance and, for myself, the goals as well. We want to go and get the three points, and then we will have three home matches and our confidence will be up.

“We know it is going to be a tough game, any away game will be. They haven’t got a lot to play for but we have got a lot, so hopefully we can take the intensity we showed (on Monday) and get the three points.

“Playing week in, week out there for two-and-a-half-years, it is a club close to home. I am looking forward to it.

“I have good mates there but the main aim now is to go and get promoted, so we are going there to the three points.”

The Welshman netted a hat trick against the Royals in front of more than 25,000 supporters at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Wanderers enter Saturday’s fixture four points behind second-place Derby, with a game in hand, after the Rams drew at Portsmouth in midweek.

Collins insists there is belief in the Bolton camp that they can break into the top two heading into the final fixtures.

“I believe we can go and get that second spot,” he continued. “The whole changing room and the staff, we all believe we can get that spot.

“You could say we have been on and off for the last couple of weeks but going into the last five games now, we have nothing to lose.

“We are going to be in the play-offs if we don’t get that second spot but all we can do is concentrate on us. If Derby slip up, they slip up.

“All we can do is win five out of five and hopefully, come the last game of the season, we are ready to go and get that automatic spot.”

After the Bristol Rovers trip, Wanderers have successive home matches against Portsmouth, Shrewsbury and Port Vale.

The Whites have the best home record in the division this season – winning 14 games and losing just three – and it could prove to be a crucial week.

“We know playing at home, we can back ourselves to go and perform on the pitch with the fans behind us,” Collins explained.

“The main thing now is looking at the next game and we want to get the three points to come back with three out of the final four games at home.

“That will give us confidence to rally and hopefully get ourselves in a great position to get that final spot.”
