There is plenty at stake as Wanderers prepare to host Portsmouth, but Nat Ogbeta insists these are the occasions every player wants to be part of.

The wing-back has been loving his football since joining on loan from Swansea and wants to finish the season with a bang as the Whites push for promotion.

“It is a big one, but these are the games everyone wants to play in,” he smiled. “Pompey obviously want to win the league here, but we are playing for automatic promotion and it is a massive opportunity for us. It is in our hands so we are both fighting for something.

“I think it will be a game of not just using our hearts and playing with emotion, but we have to stay cool in our heads and make sure we are making the right decisions.

“We know, on our day, we can beat anybody and if we take the occasion out of it, I feel like there is nothing that separates us.

“Obviously, they are first in the league but I believe we have a lot of quality and if we play our cards right, I believe we have enough to get the victory.

“It will be a great game and a great opportunity for the team to make a statement. We need the momentum going into the last three games and it would be a great start if we can get it on Saturday.”

Pompey head to the Toughsheet Community Stadium knowing a win would see them clinch the League One title. “We can’t let it be their day, it has to be our day,” Ogbeta added.

The 22-year-old came to Wanderers in search of regular playing time following a lengthy injury lay-off but had to be patient during his first weeks at the club.

“For me, it has been amazing,” he said. “I am so grateful to God and the gaffer because before I came, I had a really tough injury.

“The gaffer said to me before I came, ‘Be patient with me, I might frustrate you early on but I have a plan for you. I don’t want you to break down, I want to make sure you are feeling good when you are playing’.

“It was difficult the first couple of weeks, being in the team and then out of the squad and wondering when I was going to get consistency.

“But the gaffer’s plan really worked, he has given me opportunities and believed in me. I have had moments where I have been tired but he has kept me on the pitch and allowed me to find my form.

“I am really enjoying it, the lads have been really good and helped me to settle in. I am learning every day, it is a new system and way of playing.

“The way the staff have been with me, doing extra analysis sessions to help me get up to speed, it has been really helpful.”
