Lostock AC’s annual Trail race took place last week with members enjoying the five-mile event.

The race starts at Dicconson Lane, Westhoughton before heading along Dodd Lane into Borsdane Wood. Participants complete a loop and then head back in the same direction.

James Jackson was the first Lostocker to cross the finish line in an impressive 43mins 4secs, followed by Dave Wilkes (43:06), Evan Burrell (43:14) and David Parry (43:49).

Hazel Hatfield was the first female home in 46:12, followed home by. Nikki Hamilton, in 47:29, and third was Josie Greenhalgh, in 47:39.

There was some confusion on the course with members taking a wrong turn.

However, Johanna McManus and Rachel Stevens certainly put the ‘Lost’ in Lostock finding themselves in a housing estate and relying on Google Maps to get them back on course, finishing in 1:15:23.

Meanwhile, Lostock members joined a further 1,200 Boltonians, taking part in the Bolton Community 10k.

This was a fantastic local race starting at the ToughSheet Community Stadium and heading along Chorley New Road towards Bolton, turning around at Heaton and heading back. This was an undulating course enjoying the rise and fall of the road.

Chris Baker was the first member back in an amazing 45:58, followed by Rachel Hancock, in 49:00, who was second in her age category.

David Gregson was next in 49:36 followed by McManus (51:15), who was suffering with an ankle injury.

Amanda Smith completed the Howgills 13 Trail Race - a beautiful race taking place in Sedbergh, in The Lakes.

As the name suggests, the race takes in the summit of Howgills, and Smith had a fantastic race, finishing in 3:44:08.
