There were mixed fortunes for North West Cricket League clubs in the Lancashire Knockout last weekend.

Mukhtar Nasir hit 83 to help Little Lever recover from 49-4 to post 189 against Lancashire League side Darwen - a total that saw them triumph.

Darwen reached 41 without loss, but fell to 118-8. There was a spirited ninth-wicket partnership of 36 to keep them in the game until the last two wickets fell in the space of two deliveries. There were three wickets apiece for Curtis Anderton and Adil Nisar.

Padiham also had a relatively disappointing start, but Max Seedall’s 77 guided them from 77-5 to 178 all out against Southport and Birkdale from the Liverpool Competition.

Jack Edgar then recorded figures of 4-8 as S&D were dismissed for 162.

Professional Jameel Stuart’s 31 was the only significant contribution in Farnworth Social Circle’s defeat to Prestwich and Daniel Vincent hit 62 in Lostock’s 42-run defeat against Thornton Cleveleys, with James Evans picking up three wickets.

Meanwhile, in the only T20 match played so far, Minhaj Bhada struck 41 in Oswaldtwistle Immanuel’s 85-9, Callum Boardman picking up four wickets for five runs. Garnett Tatt then scored 59 as Salesbury won by eight wickets.
