Wanderers continue their play-off push with the short trip to Blackpool after a chance to refresh over the international break.

Steven Schumacher’s side had no fixture last weekend, with several squad members called up for international duty.

The Whites are only a point outside the top six as they aim to bounce back from the defeats against Bristol Rovers and Stockport.

Team news

Eoin Toal is set to miss “a few weeks” with a hamstring strain but the centre-back should be back before the end of the season.

Toal picked up the injury against Stockport a fortnight ago and then had to pull out of the Northern Ireland squad during the international break.

George Johnston has been back in training this week after missing the past games matches with a similar hamstring problem.

Ricardo Santos, Kyle Dempsey and Kion Etete returned from injury for the B Team at Everton last weekend, while there were also minutes for Gethin Jones, Jay Matete, Klaidi Lolos and Carlos Mendes Gomes.

As for the hosts, Hayden Coulson has trained this week and could be involved but fellow defender Elkan Baggott is a doubt with an ankle issue.

Opposition lowdown

Blackpool currently sit 10th in the League One table - seven points off the play-offs heading into the business stage of the campaign.

Steve Bruce’s side enter the fixture on the back of a 2-0 win against Kevin Nolan’s Northampton after goals from Ashley Fletcher and Niall Ennis.

Ennis was an important member of Schumacher’s promotion winning squad at Plymouth and the pair were reunited at Stoke last season.

Head-to-head

Wanderers have faced Blackpool 107 times in their history, with a record of 42 wins, 31 draws and 34 defeats.

The Whites came out on top at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in November, with Aaron Collins netting a late winner after George Thomason had cancelled out Kyle Joseph’s opener.

Bolton were beaten 4-1 on their last trip to Bloomfield Road despite Thomason’s opener. Ricardo Santos was shown a controversial red card during the second half.

Wanderers have failed to win any of their last 14 trips to Blackpool – a run stretching back to 1977. Frank Worthington and Neil Whatmore were both on target in the last victory there.
