Ahead of Wanderers’ clash with Wycombe, we pick out five key talking points which could influence how the game pans out.

REUNION CANCELLED

Since returning to the North West, the midfielder has been one of the more consistent performers in the Bolton squad.

Morley has chipped in with four goals for the Whites and his work out of possession, which previous manager Ian Evatt had challenged him to improve, has come on leaps and bounds.

However, the 25-year-old misses out on a reunion with his former team-mates after he was stretchered off at Barnsley last weekend.

Morley wrote on social media: “Unfortunately, my season has come to an end. Personally, I think this was my best season in football and I’m absolutely gutted it’s ended with an injury!

“I want to thank all the Bolton and Wycombe fans for the support this season, it doesn’t go unnoticed. I’ll be back.”

FAMILIAR FACES

Caleb Taylor had a loan spell at BoltonCaleb Taylor had a loan spell at Bolton (Image: PA) There could be a couple more reunions for ex-Bolton players, who are currently plying their trade at Adams Park.

Kieran Sadlier is back in contention after narrowly missing out on the squad against Stevenage last weekend.

The 30-year-old hasn’t featured since October 5 after having hernia surgery. Prior to the injury, he had scored twice in 11 matches this season.

Caleb Taylor is another ex-Wanderer who could be involved at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Most of the Bolton squad will know first-hand about Taylor’s physical attributes and the threat he can provide from set-plays.

BUSINESS STAGE

Schumacher talking tactics with his squad (Image: CameraSport - Rich Linley) Wanderers have plenty of work to do heading into the final four games if they are to climb back into the play-offs.

The stakes are also high for Wycombe, who are only a point off the automatic promotion spots as they prepare to head up North.

The Chairboys kept the pressure on Wrexham with the recent victories against Huddersfield and Stevenage, and the race for the second spot could well go down to the wire.

Mike Dodds has done an impressive job to keep the club in contention following Matt Bloomfield’s move to Luton Town in January, which had the potential to derail their good work up to that point.

There are a few differences from the Wycombe which Bolton faced earlier in the season but the core principles remain intact.

REVERSE FIXTURE

Wanderers left Adams Park with a pointWanderers left Adams Park with a point (Image: CameraSport - Andrew Kearns) Wanderers were largely written off ahead of their trip to Adams Park in December but showed character to keep a clean sheet on the road.

It was an important result at the time following another lacklustre display against local rivals Wigan Athletic.

Throughout the Evatt era, there were accusations that the team struggled against more physical and intense opposition.

Those questions have been raised again following last weekend’s disappointing 4-1 defeat at Barnsley, in which the Whites found themselves 2-0 down after 25 minutes.

The defence will be tested again by Wycombe’s threats and Bolton must provide answers if they are to avoid a sixth defeat in eight.

DOUBLE HEADER

Wanderers Women are aiming to build on their Cup success (Image: NQNW) It is a busy few days at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, with Wanderers Women aiming to secure the league title in their first fixture on the hallowed turf.

It has been an impressive first season for Myles Smith’s side since moving under club operations, winning all but two of their league fixtures and remaining unbeaten heading into the final day.

Bolton also won the Challenge Cup last week following an emphatic display against Accrington Stanley in the final.

“It was brilliant for them, a great win and some well-deserved silverware,” said Steven Schumacher. “Another big game this weekend so hopefully they can wrap up the league in style.”
