Bolton Wanderers target Matty Jacob wanted by Swiss club

The left-back is on Steven Schumacher’s wish-list after being told he could leave Hull City but has also attracted plenty of interest at home and abroad.

Reports on Humberside claim Jacobs is wanted by three different League One teams, including Wanderers, but also has the option of moving overseas to Switzerland next season,

Bolton have been in the market for a left-sided defender and reportedly expressed an interest in signing Lincoln City’s Sean Roughan, who now appears to be on his way to Huddersfield Town on a free transfer.

Jacob will command a transfer fee as he is still under contract with Hull for the next two years, with another year option on the club’s side – and it remains to be seen whether an agreement will be made on two fronts, with Tigers team-mate Xavier Simons also linked with a move to the Toughsheet Stadium this week.

The former Chelsea midfielder played 20 games in the Championship last season before losing his place in the side after the departure of head coach Tim Walter.

He was loaned out to Wycombe in League One as a replacement for Aaron Morley and played a further 16 times.

Simons also has 12 months left on his contract with another year option and sources close to the club believe he could cost around £500,000.

Scottish side Hibs along with Wigan Athletic and Plymouth Argyle have also been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old.

Wanderers have made one signing so far this summer, bringing in Wrexham striker Sam Dalby on a free transfer.

A goalkeeper is high on the list of priorities and loan moves have been discussed with Chelsea for Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Crystal Palace for Owen Goodman and QPR for Murphy Cooper, all of whom had impressive loan spells in the EFL last season.

Wanderers head coach Schumacher has also expressed his wish to play with wingers next season and currently has just two senior options on his books, Szabi Schon and Jordi Osei-Tutu.
