Former Wanderers full-back Nat Ogbeta has joined Barnsley on a season-long loan from League One rivals Plymouth.
Ogbeta spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Bolton from Swansea, scoring twice in 17 games for the club.
He started the play-off final against Oxford at Wembley after Randell Williams picked up an injury in the build-up to the fixture.
The 24-year-old headed to Home Park last summer and made 20 appearances last term as Plymouth were relegated from the Championship.
“I’m delighted to join the club and I’m looking forward to getting going with the lads,” he told Barnsley’s official site.
Sporting director Mladen Sormaz added: “Nathanael joins us with a fantastic pedigree, having played a good number of Championship games last season at Plymouth.

“His ability to defend, combined with his athleticism, makes him an ideal candidate for Conor’s squad, and we are delighted to have him on board at this early stage of pre-season.”
Ogbeta becomes Barnsley’s second signing of the summer after Murphy Cooper as Conor Hourihane prepares for his first full season in the dugout at Oakwell.
“I’m really excited by the signing of Nathanael,” said the head coach. “He has good EFL experience for a player of his age and he brings depth to the squad, which is essential.
“He will link up with the rest of the squad next week and we’re delighted to have him here.”
Ogbeta could now come up against his former side when Wanderers make the trip to Oakwell on Saturday, August 16.
