The draw was carried out live on Sky Sports News by former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given and ex-Liverpool star John Barnes.
First-round ties are scheduled to be played in the week commencing Monday, August 11. The competition is regionalised between northern and southern sections at this stage.
Wanderers overcame Mansfield on penalties in the opening round last season and backed that result up with a 2-0 win at Shrewsbury.
The Whites were drawn against Arsenal at the Emirates in the third round and their run came to an end despite Aaron Collins’ goal.
