WANDERERS (4-2-3-1)

TEDDY SHARMAN-LOWE…6

Didn’t have much to do for most of the game and can count himself unfortunate with the equaliser, which took a big deflection.

JORDI OSEI-TUTU…6.5

Had a few decent moments in attack with Cozier-Duberry but there remains some debate over how to get the best out of him in Bolton’s system.

CHRIS FORINO…7

Made a couple of important challenges as Reading looked to pose a threat on the counter attack.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…7

Captained the side in Toal’s absence and led a solid defensive effort, which was undone by one moment of bad fortune.

MAX CONWAY…6.5

Had some bright moments in the first half but perhaps could have done more to stop Abrefa on a couple of occasions after the break.

ETHAN ERHAHON…7.5

Tidy in possession and helped set the tempo during Wanderers’ dominant spells. Also carried out some important defensive work.

XAVIER SIMONS…7

Made some good tackles to break up attacks and seems to compliment Erhahon’s game in the middle of the pitch.

AMARIO COZIER-DUBERRY…7.5

Inches away from opening the scoring in the first half and had a big chance after the break which he maybe should have done better with. Played a role in the goal with a cut-back to Burstow.

JOEL RANDALL…7

An encouraging display from the attacking midfielder, who had some positive moments in the final third and covered plenty of ground out of possession.

IBRAHIM CISSOKO…7

Looked sharp on his first start and delivered some dangerous crosses into the box. You sense there is plenty more to come from the wide man which is rather exciting.

MASON BURSTOW…7

Got a slice of luck with the deflection for his goal but deserved it after getting himself into the right position.

Subs: Gale 71 (for Randall), Dalby 76 (for Burstow), McAtee 83 (for Randall), Sheehan 83 (for Erhahon).

Unused: Miller, Toal, Morley.

Reading (4-3-3) – Pereira; Abrefa, Burns, Williams, Dorsett (Jacob 80); Fraser (Elliott 59), Wing, Savage; Kyerewaa (Garcia 81), O’Mahony, Doyle (Camara 66)

Unused: Ahmed, Stevens, Stickland.

Referee: Tom Reeves 6/10 – Didn’t have any major decisions to make and wasn’t shy when it came to brandishing his yellow card.

Attendance: 19,625

MAN OF THE MATCH – Ethan Erhahon.

Made a positive impression on his first league start and will only get better as he plays more minutes and builds relationships with his new team-mates.

MOAN OF THE MATCH – Pereira goes down injured in the first half as Wanderers are starting to build momentum and his minutes of treatment take the sting out of the game. It is something we see regularly in the EFL but difficult to tackle.

MAGIC MOMENT – Cissoko’s clever skill to get past his man in the second half. He is showing glimpses of what he will bring this season and perhaps beyond.

ATMOSPHERE – Good turnout for a week night fixture, especially when it was being broadcast live on Sky Sports. The noise levels went up after the opener but Wanderers failed to build on that momentum.
