Daisy Hill manager Nicky Hunt is looking for his side to deliver a double blow to AFC Blackpool when they travel to the Fylde coast on Saturday in the North West Counties League First Division North.
On Monday night, Daisy recorded their biggest league win of the season in defeating the Seasiders 4-1 at the Ginge Power Stadium, and due to a quirk of fixture rescheduling, the return league game between the two sides takes place just five days later at the Mechanics Ground (3pm).
Despite the win on Monday, Hunt insists his side will need to be on the top of their game to pick up another three points.
“I said after the game on Monday that AFC Blackpool are not a bad team,” said Hunt.
“But by putting in the performance we put in, we made them look bang average, and that’s what we need to do again if we want to get anything out of the game.
“Obviously, playing them back-to-back home and away, they know what we’re like and we know what they’re like.
“Everyone knows we’re not going to change our formation, and if they play the same formation, it’s more of the same, a 3-5-2 against a 4-3-3. So it’ll be another tough game on Saturday, just like it was for us on Monday.”
The competitive nature of First Division North sees Daisy sitting in 14th position in the table, but at the same time only nine points off a play-off place, and Hunt insists a finish in the top five is still definitely a realistic target.
“We’re in a position now where we need three points in the majority of our remaining games to get in the play-offs,” said the Daisy boss.
“People might say, ‘oh, you’re miles off’ but we’re not really. We’re only nine points off now with that victory on Monday night, so there’s still time to get there.
“I hate tinkering with my team but the last two games, I’ve had to tinker with my whole back four, which I’d never normally want to do, but circumstances dictate you have to do it at times.
“On Monday, especially, I thought the lads coped with it really, really well, and that’s pleasing to see.
“I’ve said from day one, everyone’s got to play a part with my team. The squad’s here for a reason and everybody’s going to play minutes and everybody’s going to be valuable in the remaining games.
“After a good training session in midweek, we will move on to Saturday and hopefully more of the same, where we put in a performance on the day and get another three points.”
