Barnsley boss Conor Hourihane anticipates a tough test at Wanderers and knows what one player, in particular, is capable of.
Hourihane played alongside Corey Blackett-Taylor at Derby before hanging up his boots and heading into management.
The wide man made his Bolton debut last weekend after heading on loan from the Rams, scoring the winner at Wimbledon.
“A really good team. I really like Schuey, I think he’s a really good guy. I think he tries to play the game in a really good way, he has got a real attacking way of playing with two wingers,” Hourihane told BBC Sheffield.
“He has gone back to that over the last couple of games. It felt like they were in a little bit of a scenario with us, five or six games ago, he went to a back five for a couple of games and now he has gone back to wingers again.
“Obviously brought Corey Blackett-Taylor and Rob Atper in. I have played with Corey at Derby, a really good player.
“I really like the way he goes about his business and the last couple of times I have come across Schuey, I think he is a really good guy.”
Tom Bradshaw headed to Oakwell on deadline day, joining on loan from Oxford, and could make his debut at the Toughsheet Stadium.
“He has worked all week with no issues whatsoever, chomping at the bit ready to go,” Hourihane revealed.
“He has had a couple of individual sessions this week because obviously we had a game on Tuesday, and fitting in his individual work in and around that.
“He wasn’t registered in time to be available (against Northampton) but he has trained all week and is available for selection, which is a positive for us.”
Barnsley sold Davis Keillor-Dunn to Wrexham on deadline day but managed to keep hold of others players who had been attracting interest, including Reyes Cleary and ex-Bolton midfielder Luca Connell.
“I think there was interest in a couple of our top players,” said the head coach. “Luca attracted interest last summer, Reyes obviously attracted interest coming into this January and Luca attracted interest again coming into this January.
“But I think we were very clear that we didn’t want to lose our best players unless there was a real good number – like all players, by the way – whether it’s Kieran Flavell, Georgie Gent, Luca Connell or Reyes.
"Everyone has got a number and there was nothing really there to say that number was high enough to let these kinds of players go.
“I think Davo (Keillor-Dunn) was a really fair deal for everyone and that was the reason he ended up leaving.”
