Daisy Hill will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing defeat at Nelson when they travel to face Garstang tonight in the North West Counties League First Division North (7.45pm).
The defeat was a blow to Daisy’s slim hopes of making the play-offs, but with other results going in their favour on Saturday, manager Nicky Hunt says they will be looking to bounce back quickly and launch a late attempt to finish in the top five.
“It was a shame to lose on Saturday but it is just one game,” said Hunt.
“We have got eight games to go, and we’re still in that little pack chasing the final play-off spot.
“Games are coming thick and fast, and we just have to get back into the swing of things, and the sooner the better.”
Although Garstang sit third bottom of the table, they are currently on a five-match unbeaten run.
The majority of the points they have collected so far has been down to a strong home record, and they have only lost twice in 12 league games at home all season.
But while Hunt is mindful of the threat Garstang will pose, he insists his side will approach the game in a positive manner.
He added: “We’ve got quality all over the pitch, and it’s hopefully been a pleasure to watch us recently because we’re scoring so many goals.
“We’re not one-dimensional by any stretch, but we’re a counter-attacking team because we’ve got so much pace around the front four.
“That’s exactly how we played on Saturday, and that’s what we’ll do on Wednesday, so nothing changes in that aspect - it will be the same old Daisy Hill.
“Hopefully everyone’s come through unscathed from Saturday and we’ll just go again Wednesday with the same game plan.”
