Rotherham United have a couple of injury doubts for their clash with Wanderers at the New York Stadium this weekend.

Manchester United loanee Dan Gore is racing to be back available after taking a knock to the ankle against Mansfield last week.

“It's just a race against time, really, for Saturday,” manager Matt Hamshaw told Rotherham Advertiser.

“He's got a bit of swelling. It isn't anything that is going to be long term. He's had scans and there's nothing major on there. We all hope he's going to be all right to face Bolton.

“He failed a late fitness test last Friday morning, hence why he wasn't involved against Huddersfield. We're giving it as long as we can to get the swelling down.”

Fellow midfielder Josh Benson is aiming to be back in the squad after missing the past couple of games with a calf problem.

“I was going to put him on bench last Saturday, but I just felt like it was a bit too much of a risk,” Hamshaw added. ”Even if I had used him, it might have been for only 10 minutes or so.

“People go: ‘Well, he's a real attacking threat.’ And he is. But at the same time, there's an inflated risk of him sustaining further damage.

“We can't really afford that at this moment. I'm hoping he's OK for the weekend.”

However, Leeds loanee Harry Gray is available to face the Whites despite coming off with a dead leg against Huddersfield Town last weekend.

“He's fine,” the manager confirmed. “I think we did the right thing bringing him off. I didn't really want to, if I'm going to be honest, but leaving him on could have led to something a lot more extensive.”

Like Bolton, Rotherham have had a free week on the training ground to prepare for Saturday’s fixture.

The Yorkshire outfit find themselves in the drop zone, three points from safety, after a run of one win in seven. They suffered a narrow defeat at Huddersfield last time out after Lenny Agbaire’s own goal.

“It is good to get out on the training ground and do some work,” said Hamshaw. “The focus is on the final third. We're not hitting the target enough, we're not being as clinical as we need to be.”
