Daisy Hill are preparing for a run of three home games in the space of nine days, as they look to build on their promising start to the season.

The sequence of games begins on Friday evening when they take the first step on what could be the road to Wembley, as they host Cheadle Town in the First Qualifying Round of the Isuzu FA Vase, with league games against Uppermill on Monday and Woolton next Saturday to follow.

Although Daisy are unbeaten in the league, the only blot on the season so far has been a penalty shoot-out defeat to Uppermill last Saturday in the Edward Case Cup after a 1-1 draw.

Having made several changes for that game, manager Nicky Hunt is pondering a reshuffle on Friday after Tuesday night’s disappointing 1-1 league draw at Ashville.

"Potentially I could change attack-wise, as we have got good depth in the wide areas and up front," said Hunt.

"But do I want to change too much, like I did last Saturday?

"I changed three or four players and it didn't really tell on Saturday, but I brought players back in on Tuesday and it didn't gel for some reason.

"We dominated possession for the whole game, but it's just having an end product and a finish at the end of it.

"It was just a poor game in aspects of our clear-cut chances created, so that’s something I need to look at."

Friday’s opponents Cheadle Town were moved by the FA in the summer from the North West Counties League to play in the Midland League Premier Division, one step higher than Daisy Hill.

They have made a solid start to the season and have won both of their away games so far, the latest being a 2-0 win at Wythenshawe Town in the FA Cup last Saturday, but Hunt is looking forward to the challenge.

"Friday, obviously, is a big game for us in the FA Vase, against a team that are playing at one level higher than us," said the Daisy boss.

"So we'll treat them with respect, but we're at home, we've got two home wins out of two, and we're going to go all out for the third."

The tie will be decided on the night, with a penalty shoot-out deciding the winners if the sides are tied after 90 minutes.

Kick-off is at 7.45 pm.
