YOUNG Bolton boxer Osman Aslam is set to return to the ring next month as he looks to make progress in 2016.

The 21-year-old super bantamweight joined the professional ranks just over a year ago but has been out of action since June when he made it two wins from two pro fights against Sheffield's Anwar Alfadli in Preston.

The Halliwell youngster, who has a new promoter in the shape of Sheffield's Dennis Hobson and is managed by Bolton's Asif Vali who also looks after heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, is now ready to return against 25-year-old Ricky Leach, from Kent, at Rotherham's Magna Centre on Saturday, February 6.

Leach has just one win from seven professional fights to date – last time out in November against Lithuania's Aivaras Balsys.

Tickets for the event are priced £40 and £70 VIP and there is minibus transport provided free of charge from Bolton on the night.

For more information about tickets and travel, contact Ibrahim Aslam on 07455 928686.

Meanwhile, there was success for Bolton boxer Kieran Cormican who won gold in the King of the Ring Box Cup in Sweden.

The young amateur from Tonge Moor beat his opponent from Norway in the 54kg category in Boras.

Cormican, nicknamed Rocky, is trained by John Hart at Castle Hill Police Boxing Club and his training for the event was aided by Total Fitness of Bolton.

Castle Hill would like to hear from anyone interested in sponsoring the club or any of its boxers. They can contact Mr Hart by emailing coachjohn2001@yahoo.co.uk.
