Promoter Steve Wood has hailed his big night of boxing in Bolton as “great for the town”.

Jack Cullen and Jack Flatley co-headline at the Whites Hotel in Bolton on Saturday with both men looking to win the English title and prove they are destined for big things.

Cullen takes on Halifax’s Jack Sellars at middleweight while Flatley faces Shropshire’s Craig Morris in a 50-50 super-welterweight clash.

“This is a really good show for Bolton,” said VIP Promotions’ Wood.

“It’s not often you’ll see two English titles being contested on the same night, and to have two local lads fighting for these belts is great for the town.

“Both are in hard fights though and will need to put in top performances if they’re going to win.

“They’ve both sold lots of tickets, so the atmosphere will be excellent, and this will be a great night of boxing.

“This weekend’s show is probably the biggest we’ve done in 20 years.”

Wood is predicting both the hometown favourites will put on a show for the Bolton crowd.

“Jack Flatley against Craig Morris will develop into a tasty fight,” said the well-respected fight figure who manages world featherweight champion Josh Warrington among others.

“To win this English title, Jack's going to have to perform to his best, and I believe he will.

“He's out of contract with Frank Warren, they've not renewed it, and I'm hoping on Saturday he will prove they've made an error.

“Jack Cullen gets a late replacement in Jack Sellars, and Sellars is a tough guy.  With Cullen's height and reach, I expect him to get a good start before he gets in the trenches.

“Cullen likes to have a fight though and this will be a barnstormer.”

For those that can’t attend, the show is being streamed live on vipboxing.tv.
