JOSH Bohannon is the latest young Bolton cricketer to be handed a professional contract at a county club.

The all-rounder follows fellow former Farnworth Social Circle player Haseeb Hameed and Matt Parkinson into the Lancashire professional ranks, while Matt’s twin brother Callum has just completed his first season as a professional at Leicestershire.

At 20 years old Bohannon is the same age as Hameed and a year younger than the Parkinsons who are former juniors at Heaton Cricket Club.

Bohannon has earned his deal after impressing in Lancashire’s Second XI championship-winning season this summer, scoring 650 runs and taking 24 wickets.

“I couldn’t be happier to sign my first professional contract with the county that I have supported ever since I can remember,” he told the Lancashire website.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being part of the squad on a scholarship contract this year and this is the next step in my development.

“I want to carry on putting in performances for the Second XI and push for a place in the first team in what is going to be a very exciting few years ahead for the club.”
