BLACKROD finished top of the table after three rounds of matches in the Bolton Cricket Development Group Indoor Under-9s Tournament.

Going into the final week of the league fixtures Bradshaw, Egerton, Blackrod and Eagley were all separated by just two points.

But two wins out of two for Blackrod on Sunday saw them leapfrog Egerton and Bradshaw to top the table.

Blackrod had a convincing victory over Eagley when they scored 246-0 and restricted their opponents to 211-4.

Blackrod’s other win saw them score 224-2 against Bradshaw who posted 220-3.

Bradshaw, who finished second in the table, beat Egerton in their other game, scoring 227-2 with Egerton totalling 223-3.

Eagley completed the three weeks of league action in third place after beating Egerton on Sunday.

Eagley posted 231-2 against Egerton’s 211-5.

The league fixtures are now over and the competition has its final week this weekend when the semi-finals and final take place.

This Sunday’s action at Smithills Sports Centre begins with two friendlies in which Blackrod take on Eagley and Bradshaw play Egerton at 9am followed at 10am by the first-versus-second place match between Blackrod and Bradshaw and the third/fourth-place game between Eagley and Egerton.

The Bolton Cricket Development Group Indoor Tournament has been in existence for several years but was previously only played at u11s.

Organisers have extended the competition this year by adding u9s and u13s events.

All the tournaments are held at Smithills Sports Centre, sponsored by the University of Bolton and officiated by Bolton Cricket League umpires.
