WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS: Blackrod became the first winners of the Bolton Cricket Development Group Indoor Under-9s Tournament on Sunday when they beat Bradshaw in the final of the four-week competition. It was the first time an u9s event had been staged and was contested by those two teams along with Egerton and Eagley. After playing two matches each Sunday on a league basis for the previous three weeks, the teams who finished in the top two positions met in Sunday's final and Blackrod's 219-1 bettered Bradshaw's 215-1. Egerton finished third and Eagley fourth. The Bolton Cricket Development Group Indoor Tournament has been in existence for several years but was previously only played at u11s. Organisers have extended the competition this year by adding u9s and u13s events. All the tournaments are held at Smithills Sports Centre, sponsored by the University of Bolton and officiated by Bolton Cricket League umpires.
