SOME cricket clubs are currently looking for new scorers, and a course has been organised to teach people how to do the job.

Scoring is a vital part of the sport, with all matches needing scorers to formulate a record of the game as it happens.

Anyone who is interested in trying their hand in the role can attend and an introduction to scoring course at Astley Bridge Cricket Club on Tuesday, February 12, starting at 7.30pm.

It is a two-hour course designed to teach new scorers the skill of book scoring.

The course was originally scheduled to be held on April 16, but has been brought forward.

The cost of the course is £5 and all materials are provided apart from a pen.

Peopl can just turn up on the night or reserve a place by booking on line by visiting the ECB ACO website and clicking on "courses".

Anybody who wishes to start at a more advanced stage can enrol on a club scorer level one course on Tuesday, March 19.

This course teaches the skill of book scoring as well as the laws of the game as they relate to scorers.

The course runs for four consecutive Tuesday nights, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, and the cost is £30 which includes all course material as well as a scorer's bag.

For further information on both courses contact Karen Knott on 01204 535842.
