FORMER Bolton League player and coach, Atiq-uz-Zaman, has been appointed head coach of Lancashire Women’s team for the coming season.
The man who played for and was head coach at Westhoughton CC before moving into a similar role at Bradshaw CC, takes over Lancashire Women from Dan Atkinson, who is having 12 months off from the job due to other coaching commitments.
Bolton-based Uz-Zaman has filled a number of coaching positions at Lancashire since 2013, taking charge of the county’s under-11s, u12s and u13s in different years before last year being head coach of the u19s and u13s teams which he guided to Six Counties Championship and Taunton County Festival triumphs, respectively.
The 43-year-old former Pakistan international wicket-keeper played one Test match and three one-day internationals for his country.
He is currently head coach of the Sui Southern Gas Company first-class team and the Punjab cricket team and in the past was fielding coach for Pakistan Super League team, Lahore Qalandars, and wicket-keeping coach at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
