EGERTON chased down a target of 173 to beat Royton, with Parkinsons at the forefront of their victory.

Visitors Royton were limited to an all-out total of 172, with Matt Parkinson collecting 6-32 from 11.1 overs, including the key wicket of overseas pro Chirag Khurana, who made 80.

Callum Parkinson took 3-49 and came in at three during Egerton’s reply, finishing unbeaten on 56 to see his side to 176-4 and a six-wicket win.

Pro Janith Liyanage provided the main back-up with 44.

Egerton, who are eighth in the Premier Division table, go to Denton St Lawrence this weekend.

In Division 1B, Edgworth’s Liam Watkinson and Umega Chathuranga rattled through Droylsden’s line-up, each collecting five wickets as their hosts were dismissed for just 68.

Watkinson took 5-14 in 9.2 overs, while the overseas pro finished with 5-19.

Only overseas amateur Donovan Aucamp reached double figures with 16.

And, despite a duck for opener Ally Dickson, Edgworth had few problems reaching their low target, Christian Smith top-scoring with 23 as they reached 69 with four wickets down.

Astley and Tyldesley are just five points off league leaders Heyside after their five-wicket win at home to Walshaw.

The visitors batted first but could only muster 150 with Mukhtar Nasir top-scoring with 27.

James Cutt picked up four wickets for 32 runs, backed up by Chris Ware (3-36), Chathura Randunu (2-36) and Paul Bennett (1-26).

Pro Randunu then steadied Astley’s stuttering reply, taking them from 30-2 to 95-4 when he departed for 34.

Graham Capstick saw them to a five-wicket victory with an unbeaten 42.

A&T travel to Whalley Range this Saturday while Edgworth host Dukinfield.
