FLEETWOOD 0, RADCLIFFE BOROUGH 3

RADCLIFFE Borough may now be consigned to relegation, but they proved they still have plenty of fight left in them when they dented Fleetwood's promotion hopes on Bank Holiday Monday.

Fleetwood inflicted defeat on Boro on Boxing Day and also snapped up contract rebel Danny Hurst a month later, meaning this victory was sweet revenge for Andy Johnston's struggling side.

It was a game where everything went right for Boro. The Stainton Park side have struggled to find the net all season, but once they got their noses in front here, there was only one winner.

The first-half was nondescript as a spectacle, with both sides showing plenty of endeavour but very little quality in the final third and the sides went in level.

The result meant more to Fleetwood in their quest for the play-offs than it did for doomed Boro, but it was the visitors who looked the more penetrative and they took a deserved second half lead when striker Ian Fitzpatrick scored from the penalty spot.

The floodgates then opened as Fitzpatrick scored again, along with Matty O'Neill.

Tim Dittmer was called into making a couple of smart saves in the Boro goal, but Boro were the deserved winners and will now look forward to their remaining three games in a more positive frame of mind.

Boro were beaten 3-1 on Good Friday, with their strike coming courtesy of a deflection from Haydn Eames' well-struck shot. Ian Kilford, Lee Ashcroft and David Foster were the Kendal goalscorers.
