ONLY four games beat the weather in the BSF Over-35s Football League on Sunday, three in the league and one Sam Ashworth Trophy match.

Radcliffe Vets went top of Division Two with a 5-2 win at Heaton Vets, but are just one point ahead of second-placed Radcliffe old Boys A and have played three extra games.

Radcliffe’s goals were scored by Dave Malius, Mark Westhead, Lee Webb, Dean Fisc and Adam Greenhalgh on the 3G pitch at Little Lever School.

Dobbies B moved two points clear of Home Guard Failsworth at the top of Division Three with a 3-1 win at Wigan Town for whom Dean Ainscough scored.

John Armstrong, David Cosgrove and Chris Pedlar were on target to earn Dobbies the points.

In Division Four, Atherton Town leapfrogged Heaton Casuals, who were in Sam Ashworth Trophy action, to go top by two points thanks to a 5-1 home win over a depleted PF Bury side for whom Noel Coleman scored a consolation goal.

Martin Jordan scored a hat-trick for Atherton while Scott Mulcrow and Mark Shannon added one apiece.

The Sam Ashworth match at Heaton Casuals produced nine goals as they defeated Bolton Wyresdale 6-3.

A Sutcliffe hat-trick and one each by Hibbert, Wilcox and Walsh saw them safely through despite an Aaron McCarthy double and one from Mick Gregory for Wyresdale.
