RADCLIFFE Boro's influential midfielder Scott Wilson is hoping the players can bottle their performances in the second half at Burscough on Tuesday and use it as a springboard for the rest of the season.

Boro put in one of their best performances of the season on Merseyside, and could have snatched all three points with a little more luck - silencing their doubters in the best possible fashion.

"I would say we looked a little shaky in the first twenty minutes but we were only 1-0 down at half-time," said Wilson.

"Once we got back into the dressing room, we all realised we had a chance to get something from the game and that inspired us to our performances in the first twenty minutes of the second half where I thought we were excellent.

"I think we were a bit unlucky to only draw, but we can take real heart from the way we played. Hopefully now we can kick-on."

A home clash with Frickley awaits Boro tomorrow, and Wilson reckons the players will be confident of taking all three points.

"To be honest, I would be really disappointed if we didn't beat Frickley. They are struggling in the league and haven't got a manager at the moment," said Wilson.

"I think now is an opportunity to kick on because a few good results will put us in with a shout of the play-offs. We are playing well without taking our chances and, although our strikers are getting a bit of stick at the moment, I think Tuesday showed we can be a match for most teams."

Wilson also admits he has been told by the manager Andy Johnston to try and get into the box more: "The manager likes one of the midfielders to sit and the other two to try and get forward to support the strikers. At the moment, I am asked to go forward because I am playing on the right side of the midfield three. I have never got into double figures in a season at this club, but it's always nice to score and I am always looking for opportunities around the box."

Wilson, who is in his sixth year at Boro, added: " I love playing at this club. The manager likes to play football the right way and I feel at home here.

"I feel a responsibility as a senior part of the squad to keep putting in good performances and also to help any new players to the club settle in."
