BURY boss Chris Casper has spoke out against a percentage of players' agents he said are intent on upsetting the harmony at Gigg Lane.

The Shakers chief is facing a busy January trying to keep hold of his best players, in what looks like being a frantic month in the transfer window.

Although transfers are far less prevalent than in the summer window, the volume of agent's calls touting their players' wares is just as high as ever - and Casper has hit out at the way some representatives go about their business.

"Agents have got a job to do, but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it," he said.

"I agree that they should be involved if the player is negotiating a contract as a representative but I don't like it when they tout a perfectly happy player's name around at other clubs while they are still under contract somewhere else.

"That just goes to upset the player, when they are being told they can get a better deal. That's is just disruptive."

One player whose name has been banded about as a possible target for Ipswich Town and Wolves in recent weeks has been 14-goal striker Andy Bishop - but his manager has highlighted his example as one for his players to follow.

"Andy is a good lad, and as far as I know he's not represented by an agent," he said.

"He knows his name has been mentioned with other clubs but it hasn't affected his game, he has just carried on working hard.

"He is ambitious and wants to play higher up the league, but his attitude is spot on."
