BURY have swooped to sign teenage Scotland Under-17s goalkeeper John Ruddy.
While the club is yet to unveil the signing, the former Rangers starlet confirmed the move on his official Twitter page yesterday as he paid tribute to his agent for securing the deal.
“Massive thanks to Matt Lawton @442FootballMGMT for all the brilliant work already done for me,” read a tweet on the 16-year-old’s Twitter page @Jack_Ruddy_1.
“Much appreciated!! Delighted to sign for #buryfc.”
It is understood the young keeper, who spent last season at Spanish Segunda Division side Real Murcia, had also attracted interest from Liverpool.
He will bolster the international ranks of promising stoppers in Bury’s youth set-up, joining Wales Under-17s keeper Rhys Williams.
Williams, also 16, earned a first pro contract at Bury this summer after impressing for the youth team.
