BURY are ready to reopen the row over their controversial expulsion from this season's FA Cup.

According to reports in a national newspaper the Gigg Lane club are looking into the possibility of seeking compensation from the Football Association after it emerged that West Ham have also fielded ineligible players in the competition.

The Hammers face being expelled from next season's draw after it emerged after the event that Argentina internationals Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano were registered to the South American-based Media Sports Investements, and not the London club for their third round victory over Brighton.

Despite admitting their error to the FA, Bury were handed the maximum possible penalty at an appeal in December for fielding Stephen Turnbull in a second round replay victory over Chester, becoming the first professional club ever to be kicked out of the competition.

The club maintain they were harshly treated, and lost out on an estimated £70,000 in prize money and potential gate receipts from a third round home tie with Championship side Ipswich.

Meanwhile, the Shakers will run the rule over two trialists in tomorrow's reserve team game at Tranmere Rovers.

Barnsley midfielder Nicky Wroe and former Birmingham City full-back James Blake are looking to earn permanent deals at Gigg Lane.
