GARY Simpson has been appointed Bury's new reserve team boss.
Simpson, a former assistant to Shakers director of football Keith Alexander at Ilkeston Town, Northwich Vics, Lincoln City and Peterborough United, will also help coach the first team and take on the role of chief scout at Gigg Lane.
He resumes a decade-long acquaintance with Alexander and said he was looking forward to getting back to work.
"The situation at Bury is very much like it was when we went in at Lincoln," said Simpson. "We had four years of success there, so hopefully we can find the right mix."
One of his first tasks could be to convince 33-year-old striker Simon Yeo to sign from Chester City.
Meanwhile, Shakers physio and former player Nicky Reid left the club by mutual consent on Tuesday.
