NICKY Adams has told Bury fans their support is crucial as the Shakers target Wembley and the League Two summit over the next month.

Adams helped Bury come from 3-1 down to win 4-3 against MK Dons last weekend and go second in the table.

The Shakers now go into Saturday’s game at Forest Green three points behind Lincoln, although the leaders have two games in hand.

Ryan Lowe’s men then host League One Oxford in the Checkatrade Trophy quarter-finals on Tuesday before welcoming Lincoln to Gigg Lane the following Saturday.

“The fans have been right behind us all season,” said midfielder Adams.

“At 3-1 down you can get disheartened but I think they knew we were still doing the right things, we were still attacking and creating good chances.

“The atmosphere was superb – and that’s what we need, we need that 12th man because we’ve got some massive games coming up. We’re really pleased with how it’s going at the moment, but we won’t get carried away, we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing.

“The most important thing for me were the scenes at the end,” he added.

“The togetherness, with everyone involved – wow! You can’t ask for much more than that. That’s what you’re in the game for. Hopefully there’ll be more scenes like that.”

Bury will be making their first ever visit to Forest Green, who are joint-seventh and drew 1-1 at Gigg Lane in August.

“Lincoln will be a massive game but whoever we play now, it’s a big game,” said Adams.

“First we’ve got Forest Green and they’re a good side. When we played them here it was a really good game, so we’ve got to respect them. But Lincoln are top of the league and that’s where we want to be.

“We just have to keep doing what we’re good at and keep working hard, and hopefully we’ll be in the mix.”
