RYAN LOWE received a bitter taste of his own medicine as Bury’s 14-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 3-1 home defeat to Swindon Town.

The impressive Kaiyne Woolery’s brace and a late Theo Robinson tap-in condemned the Shakers to their first defeat since Boxing Day, despite Nicky Maynard levelling up in the first half.

Danny Mayor’s deserved red card added a sour note to proceedings as Lowe’s high-flyers failed to hit the form that has taken them to the promotion places.

"Perhaps I'm not as frustrated as I should be after that,” said Lowe. "That's because we were second best, undoubtedly.

"Fair play to Swindon and their manager Richie (Wellens), they capitalised on our mistakes and scored some decent goals. I am disappointed more than frustrated I suppose.

"Again I have to pay lots of respect to Swindon, though. They've done to us what we've been doing to other teams in recent months.

"I guess you could call it a reality check, in a good way. They got about us and forced us into mistakes.

"We needed to show a bit more patience in certain situations. We were a bit off the pace all day, to be honest.

"We've addressed bits of situations after the game, and now it's about moving on to Tuesday's game against Cambridge. That certainly won't be easy.

"We've still got seven games to play and so there's lots to play for.”

It was not against the run of play when Swindon took the lead after 25 minutes.

A desperately slack attempt at a header back to the keeper by Callum McFadzean was pounced upon by Woolery, who smashed clinically past Joe Murphy.

An equaliser followed just three minutes later though, Jay O'Shea sprinting down the left before crossing in for Maynard, tapping home his 20th goal of the season from a yard out.

Lowe’s charges came out firing after the break as O’Shea slammed the bar with a free kick but it turned out to be the Robins who were the first to notch again.

Former Bolton forward Woolery, a menace throughout, scored a smart individual goal this time, battling his way past Scott Wharton and Adam Thompson before registering from 15 yards.

Bury's frustration boiled over in the 74th minute when Mayor saw red after reacting with a wild push to Canice Carroll's challenge.

And the miserable afternoon was completed when Robinson tapped home Woolery's cross three minutes from time for a Swindon side harbouring promotion aims of their own.

"I'm not one for getting stressed out in these situations,” added Lowe.

"We've got a good group of lads and some good staff around us, so we won't be thinking about pressure.

“The red card was stupid from Danny. We'll deal with it, though. In fact we've already dealt with it.

"He's apologised to the lads in the dressing room.

"He does get kicked a lot because of the way he plays, but we won't be appealing the decision. You just can't react in the way he did."
